Comcast has opened a new business service sales center at 220 Lakeridge Drive in Smyrna.

The company said the 18,000-square-foot center will help introduce small to-mid-sized businesses across the Southeast to Comcast’s advanced business products, including voice, video and high-speed Internet services.

More than 100 business account executives will staff the center, along with trainers and supervisors, the company said. In addition, some 50 new employees will be added over the next few months, said Robert Carter, division vice president for Comcast Business Services, South division.

“At a time when the economy is struggling and a lot of companies are laying people off, we are proud to be among the companies that are growing,” Carter said.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
