Coca-Cola holds a lead among American companies in corporate reputation, a survey says.

The Atlanta beverage giant landed at No. 2 on the 2014 Harris Poll Reputation Quotient study, which surveys the general public to measure the reputations of the nation’s 60 most visible companies. Amazon was No. 1.

Coca-Cola, which was No. 6 last year, received the equivalent of “excellent” in all six of the survey’s categories, including emotional appeal, product services and workplace environment. The company led in the financial performance and vision and leadership categories.

The poll surveyed more than 18,000 Americans and found that while the overall perception of U.S. companies still needs improvement, Americans are regaining confidence in corporate America after the nation’s financial collapse in 2008. Unlike past surveys, none of the companies, including those associated with playing a role the nation’s struggles six years ago, received “critical” or “very poor” scores.
