A Japanese firm that makes cleaning supplies such as baby wipes and dusting products plans to open a manufacturing center in Gwinnett County and create 170 jobs, according to a Thursday news release.

Haso USA Inc. plans to invest $7 million in a facility in Peachtree Corners at 2850 Northwoods Parkway. The jobs will be mainly in manufacturing and distribution, the news release from Gov. Nathan Deal’s office said.

Haso USA makes private label cleaning products for Japanese retailers and also is a contract manufacturing partner for large consumer products companies S.C. Johnson & Son and Procter & Gamble, the release said.

“In terms of choosing a location for our U.S. production facility, a large part of our decision to move to metro Atlanta was based on the relationships we developed,” Haso USA Inc. President Yuji Sogawa said in the release.

The company was recruited jointly by the Georgia Department of Economic Development’s offices in Japan and in Atlanta, as well as the economic development division of the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.

“Japan is one of our top five investor nations and this project reflects our longstanding and ever-growing partnership with this region,” state economic development commissioner Chris Carr said. “We look forward to seeing Haso USA Inc. thrive in Georgia.”
