Idaho-based building materials and construction services firm BMC said Thursday it plans to move its headquarters to Atlanta.

As part of the move, BMC Chief Executive Peter Alexander said the company will create or relocate 150 corporate jobs within the metro region over the next two years.

BMC makes products including doors, trusses, door and bath hardware and specialized mill work. The company conducts most of its business west of the Mississippi River, but the relocation is part of the company’s plans to grow in Sun Belt markets, Alexander said.

BMC emerged from a bankruptcy in 2010 and has been growing substantially, thanks in part to new single-family residential, apartment and commercial development, Alexander said.
