Bruegger's, a Vermont-based chain of bakery-cafes, expects to re-enter the Atlanta market next year.

Known for its New York-style bagels, Bruegger's said it has signed a lease for a location in Powers Ferry Landing set to open in spring of 2010.

The chain is in negotiations for two other sites with hopes of having 20 locations in the region. Other areas targeted for development are Buckhead, Lindbergh and Dunwoody.

Bruegger's had five locations in metro Atlanta in the mid-1990s, but the locations were closed when the chain entered difficulties.

Bruegger’s has since changed ownership, implemented a restructuring plan and begun to expand again. The company has 290 bakery-cafes in 24 states and the District of Columbia.
