Seven former A.J. Wright stores will be converted into HomeGoods, Marshalls or T.J. Maxx locations, while two others will be permanently closed.

The discount home fashion store HomeGoods has nine other locations in metro Atlanta. Three new stores are scheduled to open at the end of April and will be located in the former A.J. Wright locations in Austell, Lithonia and Tucker.

Metro Atlanta had nine A.J. Wright stores. Two stores -- in Decatur and Stone Mountain -- will be closed. Stores in Forest Park, Atlanta's West End and Brookhaven are expected to become Marshalls stores in March or April, a company spokeswoman said. A former A.J. Wright store on Marketplace Boulevard in Atlanta is slated to become a T.J. Maxx in March.

TJX Companies, which owned A.J. Wright, is also the parent company of HomeGoods, T.J. Maxx and Marshalls. Nationwide, 91 of the A.J. Wright stores will be converted to HomeGoods,  T.J. Maxx or Marshalls stores and 71 will be closed.

Richard Sherr, president of HomeGoods, said in a statement that he is pleased to expand the HomeGoods footprint in the Atlanta market.
