Metro Atlanta home prices slowed in September, according to a closely-watched report issued Tuesday.

Yet the year-over-year increase in prices — 4.8 percent — remained robust, reported the S&P/Case-Shiller Home Price Index.

Prices across metro Atlanta largely mimicked national trends by decelerating in September. Nationally, prices were down a composite .1 percent. In Atlanta, they dropped .3 percent.

Good housing news, overall, abounded Tuesday. Housing starts, sales of existing homes keep going up while foreclosures and mortgage default rates go down. CoreLogic, a housing data and analytics company, reported Tuesday that September foreclosure rates across metro Atlanta were the lowest in at least two years.
