Arby's has quietly rolled out something called an Angus Three Cheese & Bacon Sandwich, with a national ad campaign launching Sunday. It is the first time Arby's, part of Atlanta-based Wendy's/Arby's Group, has used Angus beef.
The black Angus, top round beef is thinly sliced and topped with Swiss and Cheddar cheeses, a Parmesan peppercorn ranch sauce and pepper bacon. It is served on a toasted Italian-style roll, at a suggested price of $4.99. It weighs in at about 660 calories. "It's a good size, but it's not necessarily a huge sandwich," said Warren Chang, chief innovation officer for taste, quality and the customer experience. "It's filling."
The sandwich is the first of several with Angus beef that Arby's has been working on, Chang said. "Our heritage is roast beef. This fits right in. This is a pretty natural extension for us."
