The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Tuesday launched MyAJC.com, a premium website that offers subscribers exclusive in-depth content in addition to breaking news.

The newspaper is offering a free preview of MyAJC.com through May 15. Afterward, access will require a subscription.

AJC.com, the newspaper’s current breaking news website, will continue to be available without subscription. The newspaper plans to retool AJC.com with a focus on breaking news and entertainment, as well as more emphasis on videos, photo galleries and social media.

Publisher Amy Glennon said the goal of MyAJC.com is to provide readers with a newspaper experience where and when they want it.

“This is a long-term play. It’s about driving more value for subscribers, focusing on content and listening to our readers,” Glennon said. “We are creating this website for subscribers because they have asked for a different, more newspaperlike experience and because they are so important to us.”

In recent months, the newspaper has launched paid apps for tablets and new free apps for smartphones. With MyAJC.com, the AJC joins other major news organizations that are catering to readers who want the look and feel of a traditional newspaper on digital devices such as tablets, smartphones and laptops.

“We want to make sure that our subscribers have total access to news and information,” AJC Editor Kevin Riley said. “No matter what device they use, they can read The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.”

MyAJC.com uses flexible Web technology that allows type to adjust to a device for the best reading experience. Subscribers to the premium site will have access to news when it breaks; all AJC staff stories and photos found in the daily printed newspaper; in-depth watchdog and investigative stories; links to obituaries, comics and syndicated columnists; and weekly features such as Homefinder and the AJC’s Go Guide.

After the free preview to MyAJC.com, access will be included with all AJC subscriptions. Existing customers must set up a login and password at ajcdelivers.com/AddDigital for uninterrupted access after May 15. To become a subscriber, visit ajcdelivers/subscribe.
