Average Atlanta air fares for domestic flights increased 11.3 percent year-over-year for the second quarter, making it the third highest increase in the nation according to a federal air fare report.

The average Atlanta air fare for a domestic itinerary was $435 in the second quarter of this year, up from $391 a year earlier, according to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics.

Among the top 100 airports, Atlantic City had the highest average fare hike with a 15.4 percent increase, followed by Albuquerque with an 11.6 percent increase.

Meanwhile, the average domestic air fare nationally increased 2.5 percent to $396 in the second quarter.
