When Benzino got shot in March by a relative before his mom's funeral, it's obvious this near-death story line had nothing to do with anything "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta," executive producer Mona Scott Young had in mind. Real life got in the way of "reality TV."
She didn't have a camera crew in Boston where the shooting happened. They rely on news accounts. We catch up with Benzino in the hospital later on, with his boo Althea by his side. Althea, as we've learned in recent episodes, had also slept with Nikko and (allegedly) Stevie J.
Young had to keep the "Ho-thea" story line alive, even as Benzino mourned the death of his mom, dealt with terrible family dynamics and recovered from a gun shot wound.
So when Stevie J arrived at the Weymouth, Mass. hospital, Benzino brings up the fact his buddy had slept with Althea but he didn't care about it. He had more important issues to deal with. He forgave Althea and just expressed his love for her with real sincerity. "The past," he said, "is the past."
Back in Atlanta, Karlie Redd (who loves to spread any rumor she can to stay on camera) gleefully tells Joseline that she heard that Mimi saw Stevie J with Althea while dating Joseline. Joseline, knowing the source, is skeptical in a sense but decides to do her own due diligence. She figures out this is probably true.
Stevie J, back in Atlanta, felt he had to fix things with Joseline after he heard Benzino knew about them. He volunteers the info that Benzino brought up the issue up in Boston. But he never said he "smashed" Althea though he does imply he and she may have done other things. So he tries to deny any sex happened with Althea to Joseline. She doesn't feel he's being real and tells him their marriage is now on ice. She seems angry but not super angry. She does promise to mess Althea up the next time she sees her.

In other story lines:
- Nikko presents Mimi with a sampling of the Vivid sex tape that's about to come out. She's not feeling good about this. He is. He said he watched it five times. Ego much?
- Kirk and Rasheeda's mom Shirleen are not buddy buddy. He is still peeved that she had run over his motor bike last season after she found out he had cheated on Rasheeda. She suggests he hold an "apology" party before friends and family and Rasheeda. He is okay with it - sort of. But he said if Shirleen is not worried about "material" things, he decides to break her pricey glasses as revenge. Surprisingly, Shirleen holds her fire. Kirk seems suitably self satisfied with his childish move.
- Wacka Flocka Flame and Tammy Rivera pop up for the first time in three weeks. Debra Antney, Wacka's mom, decides they go for a smaller wedding instead of a big one. Wacka just wants to go to city hall.
- Scrappy makes up with Bambi by giving her a puppy. He refuses to stop talking to Erica, who he considers just a friend but clearly, she wants more than that. He knows no boundaries, this Scrappy.
