BET today announced that it has renewed its most popular drama "Being Mary Jane" starring Gabrielle Union for a fourth season.

Season three concluded last month. Union showed up at the BET presentation at the Television Critics Association Press Tour session today to facetiously ask about the future of her show. When "told" the good news, she cracked: "My accountant thanks you all." She added: "We hope to come back bigger and better than ever."

The show, which features Union as a single Atlanta-based cable news host, will continue to shoot in metro Atlanta despite rumors BET was considering moving production to Los Angeles.

Overnight ratings have steadily fallen each season though I don't have access to DVR and on-demand viewing numbers to gauge whether overall popularity has declined. Overnight ratings were 1.6 million viewers season 3 vs. 1.9 million season 2 and 3.3 million season one.
