An Atlanta man was convicted of murder Friday, among 11 charges, in a 2014 nightclub shooting in Athens that left one man dead and another wounded, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.

Corey Blount was not immediately sentenced after his conviction, according to the paper.

The deadly shooting on May 10, 2014, was sparked, police said, after Blount's girlfriend and her friend were involved in an altercation outside the club, Bootleggers, according to the Banner-Herald.

Blount then fired into the crowd from his car, police said.

The victims, Derrick Merritt (who was killed) and Jamaris Walter, were standing in a vacant lot nearby and were not involved, police said, according to the Banner-Herald.
