Braves rank 16th in attendance among 21 teams to open new ballparks

The Braves just completed their first two series at their new ballpark, SunTrust Park. Their average attendance of 30,771 over those seven games ranks 16th among the 21 franchises to open a new ballpark since the Orioles started the MLB stadium boom in 1992 with Camden Yards.

See the chart below for a comparison of attendance at those 21 newly-opened ballparks over the first two series. Listed in descending order of average attendance. (The capacities listed are those published by the respective teams at the time the ballparks opened.)

The Braves begin a nine-game trip tonight at Philadelphia. They return home on May 3 to play a seven-game series.
