The Georgia Supreme Court is hearing arguments today in a case about a mixed-breed dachshund named Lola.
Lola's owners, a Buckhead couple who are both attorneys, say the 8-year-old family pet died because of mistakes made by a kennel where she was boarded for two weeks. The kennel denies that it had anything to do with Lola's death.
But the kennel also is arguing that Lola was property, and that property has a value, and that Lola was essentially worth nothing to anyone outside her family.
So the court will deliberate on the value of a dog. What's the value of your dog? Is this just a question of market value, or should the court also consider what the family dog is worth to the family?
