What a start, what a performance and what a comeback for the undefeated Eastside Eagles. In their crucial Region 4 matchup with Woodward Academy last Friday night, the Eagles rallied from a 24-7 halftime deficit and outscored Woodward 31-7 in the second half to close out a 38-31 win. The game was tied 31-31 when Jeff Haynes intercepted a Woodward pass and returned it 52 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

Mary Persons looked unstoppable in a 49-14 route over Upson-Lee and will sit on the bye this week 7-0 with a 32.86 average margin of victory.

Cairo looks like the team to beat in Region 1 after toppling previously-unbeaten Carver-Columbus 43-14 last Friday.

Cartersville cruised past LaGrange 45-7 to improve to 7-0 and will face Sandy Creek this Friday in an intriguing Region 5 showdown, putting a 44-game region winning streak on the line.

Pickens has existed since 1957, but the Dragons have never posted a perfect regular season. This year’s team, could change that. Pickens have opened with a strong 7-0 start and have dominated their first three region opponents with a 44.4 average margin of victory.
