Twiggs County re-hires Copeland
Twiggs County has re-hired Dexter Copeland as its football coach, the
Macon Telegraph
reported.
Twiggs County was 73-32 under Copeland from 2001 to 2009, when Copeland left to take the head coaching job at Baldwin. Copeland’s departure didn’t work out well for either party.
Twiggs was 7-33 over the past four seasons. Copeland was 29-17 at Baldwin, but the Braves were 3-7 in 2013, their worst finish in 10 seasons, and let Copeland go.
Copeland had had four 10-win seasons at Twiggs, a program that started in 1996. One of his Twiggs’ players under Copeland was Darqueze Dennard, the 2013 Jim Thorpe Award winner from Michigan State.
Twiggs County is a Class A school in Jeffersonville about 20 miles southeast of Macon.
