ajc.com

Riverside Military Academy won its first GHSA playoff game last week with a 24-14 victory over No. 5 George Walton Academy in the Class A private-school division. Riverside has a proud football history that includes a Georgia Independent School Association championship in 2005 and some great teams in the 1920s and 1930s before the GHSA began administering state playoffs. One of its star players in the 1930s became a College Football Hall of Fame head coach who led Oregon State and UCLA to Rose Bowls before landing NFL head-coaching jobs with the Rams and Chargers. And his coach at Riverside was Red Sanders, who later was head coach of UCLA's 1954 national championship team. Who was the former Riverside player? (Answer Tuesday)

Answer to Friday's question: Blessed Trinity and Clinch County were the 2017 state champions that did not win region titles.
