Wheeler defeated Westlake 18-15 on Friday in one of the season's biggest surprises. Westlake (5-4, 3-1) could've clinched Region 2-AAAAAA with a victory and still can claim the title with a win this week against Campbell (0-9, 0-4). Assuming Westlake wins, Wheeler - despite a 10-9 record over the past two seasons - will have beaten Class AAAAAAA region champions in consecutive years. Which 2018 region champion, ranked No. 5 at the time, did Wheeler upset 37-36 in 2018? (Answer Tuesday)
Answer to Friday's question: McEachern's Franklin Stephens became the ninth coach in GHSA history to lead four schools to region titles when the Indians beat North Cobb on Friday to clinch the 3-AAAAAAA championship. Stephens also won region titles at Ware County, Lamar County and Tucker. Ware County's Jason Strickland can become the 10th coach on that list this week if his team defeats Wayne County and clinches the 2-AAAAA title. Strickland previously won region titles at Lamar County, Fitzgerald and Pierce County. Stephens replaced Strickland at Lamar County in 2012. Strickland replaced Stephens at Ware County this year.
