Tift County hires assistant Anders as football coach

Tift County has promoted assistant head coach and former Murray State defensive coordinator Ashley Anders to replace John Reid as football coach, Tift County Public Schools announced Tuesday afternoon on its Facebook page.

Anders joined Reid's staff for the 2013 season. He was defensive coordinator at Murray State from 2010 to 2012. He also has been an assistant coach at Georgia Southern, Valdosta State and Holmes Community College.

Tift County was 7-4 last season and made the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
