Jahmyr Gibbs of Dalton continues to lead the state in rushing after another 300-yard performance last week. The Georgia Tech-committed running back is up to 1,144 in just four games on the season.
New names have surfaced as Georgia's passing and receiving leaders. Hunter Costlow of Jones County now leads in passing with 1,355 yards. He has also thrown 17 touchdown passes in the Greyhounds' 5-0 start.
Jairus "Nono" Mack of Clarke Central is the leading receiver. In five games, Mack has 29 receptions for 604 yards and seven touchdowns. He's a junior with more than 1,250 yards receiving in his career. He's a big-play receiver, averaging 20.8 yards per catch this season and scored on screen routes and intermediate and deep threats. He's 5 feet, 10 inches and 170 pounds
"Good grades, great character and gets it done as a three-sport student-athlete," said Clarke Central assistant and conditioning coach Russ Armistead. "Waiting for some colleges to take notice this season. He has had some informal inquiries from some colleges."
