Skylar Adams of Central Gwinnett has taken over the state lead in passing yards after throwing for a career-high 419 yards last week in a 58-39 loss to Brookwood. It was third time that Adams has thrown for more than 400 yards in a game and fourth that he had passed for four touchdowns. Adams, a senior and first-year starter, now has 2,275 yards passing in seven games.
Adams is closing in on the school record of 3,015 yards set in 2017 by current University of Miami quarterback Jarren Williams.
The leading receiver also comes from Central Gwinnett, as Daejon Reynolds extended his lead with a 149-yard game, which gives him 1,123 yards with 61 receptions and 10 touchdowns. He's closing in on the Gwinnett County record of 1,348 set by Malachi Carter of Mountain View in 2017.
In rushing, seven players went over 1,000 yards last week. They were Tyler Malone of Creekside, Antonio Martin of Hughes, Jessie Phelps of Rutland, Gage Stephens of Bowdon, Chavon Wright of Cedar Grove, Ahijah Blackwell of Rome and Demarion Owens of Sprayberry.
