Through five games, second-ranked Cedar Grove has tested its mettle against some of the best football programs in the Southeast, and with just one loss to Class AAAAAAA McEachern, it's tough not to say that the Saints are the best team in Class AAA.

Top-ranked Calhoun would beg to differ, but if you could take away the Saints' semifinal loss to Calhoun last season, Cedar Grove probably could be on top of the polls, solely based on its 2018 performance. Granted, it's hard to argue with the undefeated top-ranked defending-champions.

But back to the Saints.

Cedar Grove opened its season with two road victories against tough out-of-state opponents -- Summerville (South Carolina) 21-7 and Hewitt-Trussville (Alabama) 34-30 -- before coming back to Georgia. Against Columbia in the third game of the season, Cedar Grove won 45-0. The next week, the Saints lost to Class AAAAAAA McEachern on the road, 24-17. Last week against Lovett, Cedar Grove stretched its legs in a Region 5 battle, defeating the Lions 45-0.

A quick glance at the Cedar Grove stat sheet provides a snapshot of the program's progress through five games. There is talent all over the field. Let's break it down to see who is making things happen for the Saints:
