The best remaining job opening for a head football coach in Georgia has been filled.
Roswell, a region champion four of the past seasons in the highest classification, has promoted its defensive coordinator, Chris Prewett.
The Roswell job opened last month when Matt Kemper was hired by Etowah in Cherokee County.
Roswell won region titles in 2018 and 2019 under Kemper and reached the state finals in 2015 and 2016 under John Ford.
Prewett had worked on Kemper’s staffs at Pope and Johns Creek before following Kemp to Roswell in 2017.
Prewett, 29, is a former linebacker at Houston County and LaGrange College.
There remain nine reported openings for head coaches. They are Baconton Charter, Bryan County, Harlem, Hephzibah, Mount Zion of Jonesboro, North Atlanta, Pataula Charter, Redan and Wilkinson County. All except North Atlanta are schools in Class AAAA or below.
The Roswell announcement is the second for a north Fulton school this week. Centennial hired Sean O’Sullivan of North Atlanta on Wednesday.
