*Best player: Schley County DE Zykeivous Walker, a four-star recruit, had 10.5 sacks, 14.5 tackles for losses and 19 QB hurries in 2018. He was his region's co-defensive player of the year.
*Best position: Wide receiver. Jeremiah Johnson of Clinch County and Jordan Bennett of Pelham are Division I prospects. Johnson is committed to Florida. Charlton County's Seaquon Clark, a star on offense, defense and special teams, would've been a great choice.
*Highly recruited: Walker is the No. 14 Georgia prospect and No. 14 defensive end nationally.
*That's interesting: There's no standard size for an all-state player. The most prolific returning offensive players are Trice McCannon, who is 5 feet, 8 inches and 150 pounds, and D.J. Lundy, who is 6-1, 230. Then there's Johnson, the 6-foot-7 wide receiver/tight end from the defending state champions.
*Snubbed? Mitchell County quarterback James Thomas is a three-star prospect who passed for 1,273 yards and rushed for 760 on an 8-3 team. He was runner-up here to McCannon (2,002 passing, 1,242 rushing on a 12-1 team) and Kendrick Patterson (1,168 passing, 738 rushing, 44 tackles on a 12-1 team).
*What else is new? Lundy, a starter since he was a freshman, has a knee injury that could sideline him for several weeks or longer. Otherwise, he might be Class A's best player.
