Let the hype continue: Grayson – the talk of the offseason in Georgia high school football – has six players on the Class AAAAAAA preseason all-state team.
Three of the Rams are committed to ACC or SEC schools - QB Chase Brice (Clemson), OL Will Taylor (Duke) and LB Breon Dixon (Georgia). The other three - RB/CB Jamyest Williams, OL Tony Gray and CB/WR DeAngelo Gibbs - are each rated among the top 16 senior recruits in Georgia.
Of the six, Gibbs and Dixon transferred from Peachtree Ridge in the offseason. Williams came from Archer, and Gray moved from Central Gwinnett.
Two other teams have three players represented. They are 2015 state runner-up Roswell (DB Xavier McKinney, RB Sheldon Evans and WR Jayden Comma) and 2015 semifinalist Mill Creek (OL Jack Franklin, OL Tyler Fannin and PK Brenton King).
Roswell and Mill Creek have something else in common. Each was eliminated in the state playoffs last season by Colquitt County, the two-time defending champion in the highest classification. Colquitt has only one player on the preseason all-state team, guard Quan Stokes. The Packers return only about five starters total from the team that extended the program's winning streak to 30.
