J.D. King, a junior fullback from Fitzgerald, has rushed for more than 200 yards in each of his first two games, and it's no huge surprise.
King rushed for 1,559 yards last season and averaged 152.5 yards in Fitzgerald's four playoff games.
King has good speed. He was the Region 1-AA champion in the 200 meters and runner-up in the 100 and was the third leg of the state runner-up 4x100 relay team. He had a 10-foot-8 broad jump at Dawg Night this summer.
"He's really an explosive, physical runner," Fitzgerald coach Jason Strickland said. "He's also a great student, one of the best character kids I have been around."
