1. Baldwin 44, Burke County 30: Last year, Baldwin overcame an 0-5 start to win the Region 3-AAAA title. The Braves may not win it this season after another 0-5 start, but they proved they're still dangerous by beating a team that was 7-1, ranked No. 7 and projected as a 25-point favorite by the computer Maxwell Ratings. Baldwin is 3-6 overall, 2-1 in the region.

2. Lee County 53, Valdosta 50: Apparently the Maxwell computer saw something it didn't like in Lee County's resume, pegging the Trojans as 25-point underdogs. Regardless, the two-time defending AAAAAA champs won in a shootout and took the lead in 1-AAAAAA. Valdosta, ranked No. 2 last week, would've clinched the region title with a win.

3. Savannah Country Day 35, Savannah Christian 21: Savannah Country Day, a four-point underdog, is 8-0 for the first time since 1980 and clinched first place in subregion A of Region 3-A. The win puts the Hornets in the championship game against Johnson County on Nov. 8 with a chance to win its first region title since the 1980 team finished 13-1.

4. Mount de Sales 35, First Presbyterian 17: Mount de Sales, a five-point favorite, is 8-0 for the first time since 2010, when it played in the GISA. The Cavaliers clinched first place in subregion A of Region 7-A and will play in the championship game on Nov. 8, seeking their first region title since 1997 (GISA) and first GHSA region title since 1979.

5. Cedartown 15, Troup 8: Troup was ranked No. 3 in Class AAAA after a 3-0 start, but the Tigers are now on the playoff bubble after losing three of their past five games. A victory this week against Central of Carrollton would clinch a playoff berth for Troup, but a loss could make things interesting in the final week. Cedartown is tied for second place in 5-AAAA.

Worth noting: Dutchtown beat 14-point underdog Stockbridge 33-7, handing the Tigers their most-lopsided defeat since a 49-0 loss to Peach County in the first round of the 2010 playoffs. Stockbridge has two regular-season losses for the first time since 2014. ... Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe took a big step toward a playoff berth with a 27-26 victory over 16-point favorite Sonoraville. The job won't be easy, however. The Warriors probably need one more win, but their final two games are against the top two teams in the region - North Murray and Calhoun. ... North Forsyth ended a five-game losing streak against South Forsyth with a 43-34 victory that kept the Raiders unbeaten in 5-AAAAAAA. North Forsyth can win its first region title since 2001 by beating West Forsyth and Milton in its final two games. ... St. Francis picked up its first-ever victory in four tries against six-point underdog Mount Paran Christian when it won 42-25. Mount Paran's four losses are its most in a regular season since 2012, two years before they won a state title. ... Warren County routed Hancock Central 50-8, a week after Hancock had stunned previously unbeaten Aquinas. Warren County, Hancock Central and Washington-Wilkes are tied for third place in 7-A Div. B behind Aquinas and Lincoln County in one of the tightest races in any classification.
