NCC, Treutlen boys; St. Francis, Turner girls sit atop this week's power ratings

Here are the updated Class A Power Ratings with two weeks of play left before the region tournaments.  Following the boys’ lists, we look at some teams that, surprisingly, are currently outside of the top 16. (Note:  Region tournament champions qualify automatically.)

No. 17 Walker (13-5, 5-3 in Region 6):  In spite of having one of the area's most highly recruited players in 6-foot-10 forward Robert Baker, a Harvard commit, the Wolverines have been blown out by region rivals St. Francis and Whitefield Academy, as well as non-region foe Our Lady of Mercy, and upset last week by Excel Christian (11-9) of Dalton.

No. 18 Portal (11-10, 7-3 in Region 3).  The Panthers finished 21-8 last season and advanced to the public school quarterfinals. But they are having trouble scoring this season, averaging just 50 points per game while shooting 37 percent from the field – 21 percent from three-point range – and 51 percent from the free throw line.
