A look back at some of Week 5’s best

Here’s a look back at some of the best performances of Week 5:

No. 4 (Private) Calvary Day (4-0) senior Grant Thomas was named the Savannah Quarterback Club Offensive Player of the Week for his five catches, 151 yards and a touchdown in the Cavaliers' 56-6 win over Treutlen.

Len'Neth Williams had two touchdown runs (14 and 73 yards) and Palmer Bush threw two touchdown passes (34 yards to Deion Colzie, 21 yards to Payton Bowles) all in the first quarter of a 46-8 win for No. 3 (Private) Athens Academy (4-0).

No. 2 (Private) Prince Avenue Christian (5-0) quarterback Brock Vandagriff accounted for four touchdowns in the Wolverines' 56-6 win over Riverside Military Academy. Vandagriff, a sophomore, scored on a short keeper and had scoring passes of 61 (Evan Treadwell), 78 (Mack Simmons) and 7 (McKey Melnick) yards.

Keaton Mitchell ran for 212 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 11 carries in a 61-0 win for No. 1 (Private) Eagle's Landing Christian Academy (4-1) over Trinity Christian of Sharpsburg, competing in the Georgia High Schools Association for the first time.

The defense for No. 1 (Public) Irwin County (5-0) allowed just 45 yards of total offense in a 54-0 win over Telfair County.

The offense for No. 3 (Public) Pelham (5-0) rolled up 553 yards in a 63-20 win over Miller County. The Hornets had 307 yards passing, and nearly all of that total (224) was to Jordan Bennett, who had 6 catches, 4 of which went for touchdowns.

Travon Mathews rushed for 205 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 11 carries, to lead No. 6 (Public) Marion County (5-0) to a 40-21 win over Manchester, which had been ranked No. 7. The Eagles are 5-0 for the first time since 2013, when they won the public state championship.
