Stephenson's Ron Gartrell, entering his 23rd season, is easily the longest-serving Class AAAAAA coach at one school now that Bruce Miller has stepped down after 16 seasons at Gainesville. Gartrell, in his 31st season overall as a head coach counting eight years at Shamrock, is second in DeKalb County Schools history with 220 wins, trailing Buck Godfrey (273).
