No. 6-ranked Lamar County lost 20-7 to AAAA's No. 5-ranked Mary Persons. Unfortunately for the Trojans, this year's matchup wasn't as close as last season's. With the loss, the Trojans fall to 1-2 on the season, which may be enough to knock them out of the top 10.

No. 4 Macon County lost at home to Perry 34-33, a shocking defeat considering Perry was winless and Macon County won 35-6 last year.

Meanwhile, the No. 5 Pace Academy Knights continue to make their case as being a legitimate state title contender after edging White County 16-14 at home. White County was winless, so the fact that the game was close was a bit of a surprise, but the Knights pulled off the tough win.

The No. 8 Rabun County Wildcats took care of business by handling undefeated Jackson County 21-0. It will be interesting to see if the Wildcats are ready to make a push in Class AA as a team positioned to play it’s 15th game of the season. Wildcats coach Lee Shaw built a powerful program at Flowery Branch, and now he’s trying to replicate that in the city of Tiger.

No. 1 Benedictine rolled to a 43-23 victory over Liberty County.

At the bottom of the rankings, No. 9 Darlington beat King's Ridge 27-7, and No. 10 Dublin beat Twiggs County 34-16.

No. 2 Fitzgerald, No. 3 GAC, No. 7 Vidalia all enjoyed byes.
