Top-ranked Harrison is winning with defense again this year. The Hoyas recorded 16 consecutive shutouts (and 18 overall) in winning the Class AAAAAA championship last season, allowing just four goals all season. On Tuesday, they picked up their eighth straight shutout in a 7-0 victory against North Paulding. Harrison (11-0) has given up two goals this year. The Hoyas had four players sign scholarships on National Signing Day – Brook Colangelo (Vanderbilt), Kelsey Daugherty (UAB), Paige Porter (North Alabama) and Audrey Tanner (North Alabama).

- Finding the net: Three Savannah-area players had big scoring nights on Saturday. Richmond Hill's Nia Gordon scored four goals in a 9-0 victory over Effingham County, then added three more in a 7-0 win Tuesday against South Effingham as the Wildcats improved to 12-0 overall and 7-0 in Region 3-AAAAA. Savannah Country Day's Emma Holtzclaw had four goals in a 10-0 victory against Wheeler County, and Gracie Thompson scored four times in Savannah Arts' 11-1 win over Dodge County. The leading scorer in the Savannah area, however, is St. Vincent's sophomore Sarah Stewart, who is averaging more than three goals per game. Stewart also was the leading scorer on the school's basketball team this season.

- Coming up: Grayson (10-3, 5-0) and Parkview (10-2, 5-0) will battle for first place in Region 8-AAAAAA when they meet Thursday in Lilburn. Parkview was the state champion in 2013, and Grayson was the runner-up last season. ... Coweta County rivals Northgate (No. 1 in Class AAAAA) and East Coweta (No. 5 in AAAAAA) will meet in a non-region game Friday at Northgate. ... Collins Hill, coming off a big 7-1 victory at North Gwinnett on Tuesday, will try to stay perfect in Region 7-AAAAAA heading into spring break when it hosts Mill Creek on Thursday. The Eagles will travel to Grayson on April 11.
