The 2015 state football championships in the Georgia Dome drew 46,312 in paid attendance for the seven games over two days, the GHSA announced Wednesday.

That surpasses the 2014 record of 45,744.

The championship games, formerly played throughout the state and primarily on high school campuses, moved to the Dome in 2008 with five games over two days. Attendance was 37,659 the first season.

From 1996 to 2007, the GHSA staged all semifinals in the Dome. The highest attendance for the semifinals was 56,753 for 10 games in 2007.
