Another Friday night in the books. Is that seven now?

Here's what happened (s0me of it) ...

-Region 7 playoff teams were decided as the four 3-0 teams played and beat the four 0-3 teams. The 3-0 teams (now 4-0) are Norcross, Mill Creek, Collins Hill and Peachtree Ridge. Out are Duluth, Meadowcreek, Mountain View and North Gwinnett. Most conspicuously finished is North (2-5, 0-4), which lost to Peachtree Ridge 42-6. North will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2003.

-No. 1 Colquitt County routed No. 6 Lee County 54-17 in Region 1, pretty similar to last season, when Lee County also came in unbeaten. Colquitt and No. 8 Camden County (7-0, 2-0) are the only unbeaten teams in region play. Camden beat Lowndes 38-19. Valdosta beat Tift County 26-23 in what might've been seen as a near must-win situation for either.

-Hughes (3-3, 3-0) made itself a factor in 3-AAAAAA with a 29-21 victory over previously unbeaten East Coweta (5-1, 2-1). Hughes and Newnan (5-1, 3-0) are now the region leaders.

-No. 7 McEachern (5-1, 2-0) emerged as the only unbeaten team in Region 4 after a 35-0 victory over North Cobb (3-4, 2-1). McEachern figures to get the No. 1 seed, although that's how it seemed a year ago, when the Indians unexpectedly took a left turn at Hillgrove (4-3, 2-1). Harrison (5-2, 2-1) also is much better this season. Those appear to be the four playoff teams from R4.

-No. 3 Roswell (6-0, 4-0) continues to dominate Region 5. The Hornets were up 42-0 on a pretty respectable Wheeler team and won 45-7.

-South Forsyth and Lambert won pretty handily in Region 6 and remain on course for a Nov. 6 meeting that could decide the title. South Forsyth plays a big one next week vs. West Forsyth.

-Brookwood beat Central Gwinnett 33-28 after being way down early. Huge win for the Broncos (4-3, 4-1). Central (4-2, 3-1) had been the only unbeaten team in region play besides second-ranked Grayson. Assuming Grayson and Archer are the elite teams in R8, it's going to be fun watching the next four - Parkview, Brookwood, Dacula and Central - fight for the final two spots. Having played Archer and Grayson and beaten Brookwood, Parkview might be in the best shape.
