GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Ashley Harden, Twiggs County
1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach? "Butler vs. Grovetown, 2010. I was the head coach at Butler, and we were the underdogs despite being undefeated and not allowing a point in our first three games. Grovetown dressed out 99 players and we only had 33. Midway through the fourth, we were down 21-14. We hit a long pass for a score [to make it] 21-20, had a big defensive stop and drove 45 yards for the game-winning score with less than a minute to play. On the ensuing kickoff, we recovered a fumble to seal the game. The atmosphere that night was electric."
2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why? "Welton Coffey, Jeff Herron or Maurice Freeman. They are all great men of high moral character."
3. What is your pet peeve as a coach or favorite saying/motto? "I hate excuses."
4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed? "None. Rules are rules, and life is not always fair. You have to play with the hand you are dealt. Sometimes you win with that hand. Sometimes you lose with it, but you still have to play."
