Funeral services for Dennis Payne, a former associate director of the Georgia High School Association, will be Friday. Payne died on Monday at age 72.
Payne coordinated football, baseball, wrestling and swimming while working for the GHSA from 2000 to 2014. He served in Vietnam as a Marine and worked as a railroad engineer before joining the GHSA under former executive director Ralph Swearngin.
A funeral service will be held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory – Historic Marietta Chapel at 1 p.m. on Friday.
