Denmark, which opened this summer in Forsyth County, is 3-0 in its first season with victories over Cherokee Bluff, North Springs and Forsyth Central. The Danes will play 10th-ranked Dawson County of Class AAA tonight, then enter region play in 7-AAAA. The only team this century to play a full region schedule in its first season of football and win half of its games was Rutland in 2003. Below are the schools that have taken on such an ambitious challenge since 2000. (This list does not include schools that started with non-region schedules. Those with winning records playing full varsity, but non-region, schedules in their first seasons were 2003 Kell (8-2), 2009 Locust Grove (7-3), 2009 Grovetown (6-4), 2006 Creekview (7-3) and 2004 Whitewater (6-3).
