Charlton County is the only high school for which Rich McWhorter has coached. He came to Folkston out of Southern Illinois University as an assistant in 1989, and he's been there since. He's not the only one who seems to enjoy small-school coaching. Head coaches in Class A stay on the job longer than in any other classification, an average of 5.42 seasons. It's 4.71 for the state as a whole. Fifteen Class A head coaches are at their alma maters.
