Daily List: Former GIA schools that still exist

Spencer won its first state-playoff game last week since 1967, when the Columbus school was the Class AA champion of the Georgia Interscholastic Association, the organization that governed all-black schools during segregation. Spencer was a powerhouse in the GIA, winning four state championships (1950, 1952, 1956, 1967) under a coach named Odis Spencer. Four Spencer alumni from the GIA era played in the NFL, including Ernie Green, an all-Pro player who was Jim Brown's backfield mate on the 1964 NFL championship team. Only 10 former GIA schools still exist.
