Todd Wheeler, a coach in Floyd County Schools for 28 years, has resigned as Coosa's football coach.

Wheeler's teams were 31-43 in seven seasons, 1-9 this season. A Pepperell graduate, Wheeler was an all-SEC offensive lineman at Georgia in the late 1980s.

"At this point in my career, I need to look at what's best for the program, and I believe now is the opportune time to pass the baton," Wheeler told the Coosa Valley News, the first to report the news.
