High School Football America, a Web site with national computer rankings, has declared Colquitt County its national champion.

The Packers could win another one this week with the High School Football 100, a human poll, announces its champion. But a third pollster, MaxPreps, snubbed Colquitt on Monday morning by jumping No. 3 Katy of Texas ahead of No. 2 Colquitt in its final poll.

Colquitt (15-0) finished its season Dec. 12 by winning Georgia’s Class AAAAAA title with a 30-13 victory over Roswell.

The consensus No. 1 team, Centennial of Corona, Calif., lost its championship game Saturday to De la Salle 28-21, which opened the door for Colquitt and other teams.

In the HSFA computer poll, first published in 2013, Colquitt was No. 3 but jumped Centennial and Bishop Gorman of Las Vegas, which had completed its season.

In the High School Football 100 poll, yet to be released, Colquitt stands No. 2 behind Centennial and might expect to finish No. 1. But there are no guarantees. MaxPreps also had Colquitt County at No. 2 behind Centennial, but instead chose Katy, which  was impressive on Saturday in a 34-7 victory over Lake Travis in a Texas state-championship game.

There are three other national titles out there. Katy is expected to remain No. 1 in the PrepNation poll. Bishop Gorman is expected to remain No. 1 in the USA Today poll. Colquitt is likely to finish No. 2 in both. Colquitt finished No. 13 in the computer-generated CalPreps rankings. De la Salle is the CalPreps champion despite one loss.

Valdosta in 1992 had been the last Georgia team to win a national title in football. The Wildcats were recognized as champion by National Prep Poll and National Sports News Service. LaGrange in 1991 was Georgia’s last USA Today national champion.
