Undefeated Holy Innocents’ is headed to Macon, after another dominating performance

The Bears dominated cold-shooting Darlington in a 46-20 win, Monday at Kennesaw State.

Holy Innocents’ (29-0) will face SACA on Saturday in the Class A Private championship game in Macon. The Bears have won their three playoff games by an average margin of 33.3 points.

Freshman point guard Khayla Pointer had a game-high 13 points and had a hand in almost every Holy Innocents’ basket. She had several steals that led to breaks and finished them off with either a perfect no-look pass or a layup of her own.

“She’s a special player,” said Bears coach Tony Watkins.

These two teams played in January with Holy Innocents’ winning 57-50. But Monday’s game was never in doubt. The Bears led 14-4 after the first quarter and 28-9 at halftime.

Erika Cassell had 11 points, and Shai Blanding added six for the Bears.

Keara Evans, Maggie Beth Atha and Ashley Edge each had four points to lead Darlington.
