Clinch County has leapfrogged into the top spot in the public Class A Power Ratings for the first time this season, overtaking Region 2 rival Irwin County.
Even though the Panthers lost to Irwin for the third consecutive time in the regular season, 14-0 back on September 20, Clinch claimed the No. 1 rating by virtue of its schedule – specifically, wins over region foes Wilcox County (28-22, on September 27) and Turner County (14-16, last Friday). Wilcox and Turner are 6-1 and 5-2 overall, respectively. Meanwhile, Irwin has yet to play either. That will change over the last three weeks of the regular season as Wilcox visits Ocilla on Friday, while Turner comes calling on Nov. 8.
