Class AAA teams face a full weekend of basketball with games that will have major impact on the region standings and state rankings. Here's the breakdown:
Boys
-- Franklin County will travel to No. 1 Morgan County for a Region 8 contest Friday night. On Dec. 4, Morgan County defeated Franklin 62-46.
-- No. 2 Greater Atlanta Christian will travel to Class AAAA Marist on Friday. GAC is riding momentum from victories against East Hall, 82-54, and Fannin County, 82-29, in its past two games.
-- Fannin County will travel to No. 3 Dawson County for a Region 7 matchup Friday. Dawson County has three victories since its Dec. 29 loss to Metrolina Christian from North Carolina in the Deep South Classic. Fannin County is the last stop before a Region 7 game against GAC on Tuesday.
-- No. 4 Cedar Grove travels to Towers for a Region 5 game. The Saints need answers after dropping four of its last five games, including a 52-45 loss to No. 5 Pace on Tuesday.
-- Lovett will visit No. 5 Pace Academy Saturday in a Region 5 matchup. Pace is riding momentum from its 52-45 victory against No. 4 Cedar Grove on Tuesday. Pace should move ahead of Cedar Grove in next week's rankings.
-- Jackson County is at No. 6 Hart County for a Region 8 game Friday. Hart County lost to Jefferson on Jan. 4, but has won two straight, defeating Madison County 62-45 and Franklin County 62-36. Jackson will play top-ranked Morgan County on Tuesday.
-- No. 7 Johnson-Savannah will travel to Savannah on Friday for a Region 3. The Atomsmashers will play host to Benedictine on Saturday.
-- Monroe Area will travel to No. 8 Jefferson Friday for a Region 8 game. The Dragons play at Class AAAAAA Apalachee on Saturday.
-- Worth County is on the road at No. 9 Monroe Friday for a Region 1 game. Monroe will travel to Crisp County on Saturday for another Region 1 contest.
-- Islands will travel to No. 10 Windsor Forest Friday for a Region 3 game. The Knights will play host to crosstown rival Jenkins on Saturday in another Region 3 matchup.
Girls
-- Southeast Bulloch is at No. 1 Beach Friday for a Region 1 game. Beach will travel to Groves on Saturday for another Region 1 matchup.
-- Franklin County will travel to No. 2 Morgan County Friday for a Region 8 game. Morgan will host Salem on Saturday.
-- No. 3 Jefferson will host Monroe Area Friday in a Region 8 game before traveling with the boys team to Class AAAAAA Apalachee on Saturday.
-- Jackson County will travel to No. 4 Hart County for a Region 8 game. Hart has lost three consecutive games since its last victory – Dec. 29 vs. Dawson County (64-62).
-- No. 5 Johnson-Savannah will travel to Savannah in a Region 3 contest. The Lady Atomsmashers defeated Savannah 68-33 on Nov. 30.
-- No. 6 North Hall will travel to East Hall on Friday for a Region 7 game. The Lady Trojans then will make a trip to Class AAAA Chestatee on Saturday.
-- No. 7 GAC will travel to Class AAAA No. 5 Flowery Branch on Saturday. This game will provide a true test for the Lady Spartans as it prepares for the final stretch of the season.
-- No. 8 Tattnall County will play host to Long County on Friday in a Region 2 game. Since losing to Washington County, 59-50 on Dec. 29, Tattnall County has won two straight, beating Brantley County 60-40 and Appling County 51-22.
-- No. 9 Dawson County will play host to Fannin County on Friday in hopes of building momentum for its game at region-rival GAC on Tuesday.
-- No. 10 Lumpkin County will be on the road this weekend, playing at Cherokee Bluff on Friday and White County on Saturday in two Region 7 games.
