Central Gwinnett completed a perfect 8-0 run in challenging Region 8-AAAAAA with a 7-1 win over South Gwinnett on Wednesday. It's the first region title at the AAAAA level for coach Cory Morgan's Black Knights.
Central Gwinnett will host Meadowcreek at 7 p.m., Wednesday in the first round of the state tournament.
The Black Knights (13-3) are 6-0 against teams ranked by the AJC in all classifications and are No. 6 eurosport.com's poll.
No. 2 Roswell takes down No. 1 Chattahoochee
Senior captain Arturo Hernandez scored the only goal in Roswell's 1-0 win over Chattahoochee on Senior Night on Wednesday.
The loss was Chattahoochee's first of the season, ending the Cougars 24-game winning streak that dated back to the end of last season.
Roswell, the top seed out of Region 5, hosts Lambert in the first round.
Chattahoochee, the Region 6 champion, will host Milton.
