Wesleyan closed out its sweep of Darlington in the Class AA state championship with an 11-5 Game 2 victory Monday. The host Wolves led 3-0 after the top of the 1st inning, but Darlington cut it to 3-1 with a solo home run by Jay Shadday. Darlington scored on a bases loaded walk to cut it to 3-2, but slugger Carter Hall kept Wesleyan in front with two solo home runs to grow a 5-2 edge. Darlington cut it to 5-3 in the fourth inning but once again, Hall came through and hit a 2-RBI double. Carter’s younger brother Colin hit a two-run double to make it a 10-3 and Christian Stark drove home the Wolves’ final run to make it 11-3. This is the Wolves’ first state title since the program completed a three-peat in 2008-10.
