In Class 6A-7A, the Walton boys ascended to No. 1 by taking down defending state champion Lambert 8-7 in overtime at Saturday’s finals. Lambert entered the match ranked No. 4 in the Maxpreps National poll. Lassiter, Etowah and Centennial cap off the top 5.

Westminster defeated Lovett 9-8 in OT of the Class A-5A finals and closes out the year No. 1. The Lions come in at No. 2 ahead of an ultra-talented Blessed Trinity team and semifinalist Buford. Fellowship Christian rounds out the top 5.

In Class 6A-7A girls, Milton finishes another wire-to-wire year at No. 1 after defeating Mill Creek for its record-setting 13th all-time state title. The Hawks, Johns Creek West Forsyth and Cambridge round out the top 5. Lassiter entered the playoffs No. 2 in the polls, but finishes at No. 6 after getting upset by North Gwinnett in the first round.

Starr’s Mill defeated Blessed Trinity in the girls Class A-5A title game to win its first-ever state title. The Titans finish the season at No. 2 and McIntosh, Westminster and Fellowship Christian consist of the rest of the top 5.
