Among visitors to Georgia Tech for the final official visit weekend before signing day is a prospect not many might have predicted – offensive lineman Jordan Johnson.

Johnson, a three-star prospect from Ed White High in Jacksonville, Fla., had been committed to Tech since last July, but withdrew his commitment after a confrontation with police at the Georgia-Tech game last November. The incident began as a misunderstanding about where Johnson, his mother and brother were supposed to be seated and grew into a heated confrontation that resulted in the Johnsons leaving the game.

A-backs coach Lamar Owens, who recruits the Jacksonville area, continued to recruit Johnson after the incident, showing up in Jacksonville the week after the Georgia game to meet with the Johnsons and try to understand what had happened.

Evidently, the relationship between Tech and the Johnson family has been restored to the point that there’s still mutual interest. Johnson has already taken official visits to Central Florida and Georgia Southern.
