Georgia Tech outfielder/catcher A.J. Murray was drafted in the 14th round by the Minnesota Twins Wednesday. Murray, who recently completed his senior season, was the first Tech player chosen. He was the 410th player overall selected.

Murray caught the notice of scouts last summer, when he hit .317 with six home runs and 32 RBI. This past season, he hit .283 with 15 home runs (tied for second in the ACC) and 51 RBI.

Tech has had three of its 11-member class drafted, at least two of whom would appear headed for pro ball, based on the likely signing bonuses they could command. On Monday, Kennesaw Mountain High catcher Tyler Stephenson was taken with the 11th overall pick by the Cincinnati Reds, while Flowery Branch pitcher Jonathan Hughes was selected in the second round (68th overall) by the Baltimore Orioles.

A third selection, Buford High catcher Joey Bart, was drafted in the 27th round Wednesday by Tampa Bay.
